A man arrested in Pascagoula on a sexual battery charge is a convicted sex offender who has lived in Jackson County since 2003 without registering his address, Sheriff Mike Byrd said.
Rundy Charles Robertson, 40, lives in the 3800 block of Juniper Street in Moss Point, the sheriff said.
“I don’t know why he didn’t think he’d get caught for failing to comply with sex-offender registration laws,” Byrd said.
Pascagoula police arrested Robertson on June 30. The alleged victim’s age and sex were not available Wednesday.
Byrd said Robertson was convicted of a sex crime April 29, 1996, in Bossier Parish, La., but had not registered as a known sex offender.
The sheriff’s criminal-investigations division checked out Robertson’s background and filed a charge of failing to register.
Robertson remains in custody at the Jackson County jail. Bonds were set at $500,000 for the sexual battery charge and $5,000 for the sex-offender registry charge.
