If you missed out on attending last weekend’s Crawfish Festival because of heavy beach traffic associated with Black Spring Break, you still have a chance to get out and enjoy the fun because the event continues through Sunday with fair rides, musical entertainment good food and more.

For instance, on Saturday you can sample 22 different crawfish recipes in a public tasting that begins at 1 p.m. for the cost of $10 plus admission. After sampling your share, you can cast a vote for the People’s Choice winner in the “Bud and Boil ‘Em” Crawfish Cookoff in which teams compete for cash prizes and coveted Budweiser trophies, which stand over 5-feet tall. The event is sponsored by Aaron’s Leasing and CableOne.

The Crawfish Cookoff Competition Area is on the grounds of the Coliseum Crawfish Festival. Admission is charged to get into the festival ($15 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, free for 5 and under) and allows the ticket holder to enjoy great music all day, including headliner Gary Allan who will perform 9 p.m. Saturday

For more information, visit the coliseum Web site:, or call 228-594-3738.

Meanwhile, below is the complete schedule, subject to change, for the remainder of the festival.
