Art in the Pass, Oysters in Waveland

SUN HERALD

Two spectacular events highlight the weekend’s entertainment options — a juried art festival in Pass Christian that will feature artists from throughout the nation, food vendors, entertainment, children’s activities and more, and an Oyster Fest in Waveland that is being billed as a “new beginning” and a “comeback” event for the city that was among the most Katrina-devastated communities along the Coast.

Oyster Festival

In what is being billed a “new beginning” for Waveland, the city is holding its first Oyster Fest.

The event will include “everything oyster,” including an oyster-sack race and oysters cooked as many ways as possible or on the half shell.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday with a ribbon-cutting on the brand-new Garfield Ladner Memorial Pier; the day’s events will proceed with a kids’ fishing rodeo and live entertainment throughout the day, children’s amusements and activities.
