South Mississippi lagging on census count

44 percent of Mississippi households have returned form


As far as the Census Bureau figures, South Mississippi isn’t the best in the nation at returning its census forms, but it’s not the worst either.

Today is Census Day, the official day of the population count for the United States.

Since the forms went out a few weeks ago, the bureau has been measuring how many of the questionnaires are returned.

As of Wednesday, the Coast is lagging behind other areas in the nation.

Nationally, more than 50 percent of households have mailed the forms.
