Victim identified shooter as she called for help
A Jackson County grand jury has indicted a Moss Point man on a murder charge in a 2009 shooting death, records confirmed Tuesday.
Alfred Robinson, 48, surrendered to authorities Monday night and was charged with murder. He was being held Tuesday in the Jackson County jail in Pascagoula.
Robinson is accused in the Valentine’s Day 2009 death of Tonia Wells, who police described shortly after the shooting as Robinson’s “on-again-off-again” girlfriend at the time.
Tapes of 911 calls confirmed Wells identified Robinson as the man who shot her when she called for help shortly after the shooting.
Both Wells and Robinson reportedly shot at one another at Wells’ home on Yaupon Avenue. Both were injured, Moss Point Police Chief Sheila Smallman said at the time, and both made calls for help.
