Mobile man injured after leading police on chase

Driver lands in ditch before capture

OCEAN SPRINGS

A Mobile man was injured Thursday after he fled police and crashed his vehicle on U.S. 90, said Ocean Springs Police Lt. Steven Futral.

Police charged Travis R. Milner, 27, with felony eluding and misdemeanors after he was treated at Ocean Springs Hospital. Milner was held in the city jail pending a bond hearing on the federal charge.

Futral said two patrol officers responded to a complaint in the parking lot of Castaways bar. A vehicle sped out of the back parking lot and nearly struck them. The officers yelled at the driver, who entered an eastbound lane of the highway and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle went into a ditch on the south side of the highway and struck a concrete culvert. Futral said the vehicle came to a stop in the parking lot of Kentucky Fried Chicken and the driver ran south but was captured.

Milner also is charged with reckless driving and failing to comply with orders.
