GULFPORT

Police are searching for two men in an armed robbery and assault at a Shell gas station and convenience store, Gulfport Police Chief Alan Weatherford said.

Police said the robbers, two black men wearing all-black clothing with bandannas over their faces and wielding handguns, entered the store at 394 Pass Road at 1:23 a.m. Tuesday.

At one point during the robbery, police said, the robber hit and injured a store employee with a handgun. The robbers left with an undisclosed amount of money and assorted cigarettes. It’s unclear whether they fled on foot or in a vehicle.

The store’s surveillance camera caught the armed robbery on tape. Police are hoping someone is able to identify the suspects from the surveillance images.

Police reported no serious injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gulfport Police Department at 868-5920 or 868-5959.
