Biloxi man’s conviction stands

JACKSON, Miss.

The Mississippi Supreme Court on Thursday declined to hear the appeal of a Biloxi man convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison in the shooting death of his girlfriend.

Cavin Earl Reed was convicted in 2008 in Harrison County in the death of Angeline Combs. The state Court of Appeals upheld his conviction last year.

Prosecutors say the body of Combs, the mother of two small children, was found in 2006 in the passenger seat of an abandoned car south of the Interstate 110 drawbridge. She had been shot in the head.

Prosecutors say Reed and Combs had argued at the woman’s apartment and Combs was shot. The woman’s children were asleep and unharmed.
