Woman faces arson charge

A Pascagoula woman jailed Monday is accused of setting fire to a former boyfriend’s apartment earlier this month, Pascagoula Police Lt. Davy Davis said.

Eugenia Dixon, 34, is charged with arson in the March 8 fire at Bonaparte Square apartments on Milton Avenue.

Firefighters, Davis said, put out the fire before it spread to other apartments.

Dixon allegedly broke into the apartment and set the fire after her former boyfriend left for work. A neighbor who lived above the burning apartment called 911.

When firefighters arrived, Davis said, the apartment was filled with smoke. Apartment maintenance workers also helped extinguish the fire.

After her arrest, Davis said, Dixon told investigators she started the fire because “she was mad at the occupant of the apartment.”
