Kohl’s opens Wednesday, Michaels on Sunday

Both doors will open Wednesday to the new Kohl’s Department Store at The Promenade in D’Iberville.

The new Kohl’s has an east entrance leading to the men’s department and a west entrance that opens into misses’ fashions. People have been peeking in the doors for weeks to find out what’s inside the new Kohl’s, said store manager Travis Hill.

After a ribbon cutting at 6:45 a.m., customers will get their first look at 7 a.m. Nine stores are opening nationwide this spring and by the end of March, Kohl’s will have 1,067 stores in 49 states.

For those who are new to the Kohl’s chain, the company describes its brand as “a family-focused, value-oriented specialty department store” that sells exclusive and national brand clothes, shoes, accessories, beauty and home products.

Kohl’s emphasis is on brand-names, including Levi’s, Carter’s, Sonoma, Bali, Tony Hawk, Jumping Beans, Nike, Adidas, Candie’s, Dana Buchman, Cuisinart and KitchenAid.

Hill said the store will have grand opening specials throughout the week.

The new D’Iberville store is one of 71 Kohl’s across the country built to the Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The new Michaels craft store scheduled to open Sunday also has a clean, more- modern design with wider aisles and brighter lighting. The doors open at 10 a.m. and events begin at 11 a.m., with a prize wheel, craft demonstrations and a free Crayola craft for kids.

Logan’s Roadhouse on the southeast end of The Promenade is tentatively scheduled to open in May.
