Man jailed for molestation, battery after alleged victim files report 20 years later

A Bay St. Louis man was arrested this week and charged with three counts of sexual battery and three counts of molestation, Sheriff Steve Garber said on Friday.

Hancock County Criminal Investigator H. Matthew Carver, who is in charge of the case, said, “Jerry Joseph LeBlanc, 57, of Bay St. Louis, turned himself in at the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

“In Hancock County, LeBlanc faces three counts of sexual battery of a minor and three counts of molestation. Justice Court Judge Jay Lagasse set a bond of $1 Million for the local charges going back to 1989,” Carver said.

“The victim came forward to tell of the incidents at the sheriff’s office, after living with them for over 20 years,” Carver said. “During our investigation – since some of the incidents happened in Jefferson Parish, LA., with the (same) local victim – I contacted Jefferson Parish’s Sheriff’s Department.

“Working very closely with Jefferson Parish’s Personal Violence Section, it was revealed there were incidents involving LeBlanc with other victims in that parish too. Jefferson Parish has a hold placed on LeBlanc for charges of aggravated oral sexual battery, sexual battery and molestation.

“Jefferson Parish’s charges even go back further than Hancock County’s.”
