‘Most wanted’ suspect captured

One of South Mississippi’s Most Wanted criminal suspects featured in the Sun Herald in February was arrested Sunday, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said.

Sheriff’s investigators and agents with the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County arrested Christopher Myers, 32, at a home on Frank Griffin Road in the Escatawpa community. The Mississippi Department of Corrections had issued a warrant for Myers’ arrest on a parole violation.

Curtis Spiers, task force commander, said Myers failed to report to probation and parole following his release from prison on meth-related convictions in Jackson County

“We received tips from the time the (Sun Herald) ran the information on him,” Spiers said. “We’d missed him several times by about an hour. This time the tip was right on. We caught up with him with his head laid down. You can’t run forever. You’ve got to sleep sometime.”

Byrd said officials had been told Myers was about to leave town.

When Myers was picked up, authorities found on him a small amount of meth. He was charged with possession of meth and the parole violation.

He is jailed in Jackson County.
