Police Thursday arrested Jeremy Charles Russell, 22, on a charge of aggravated assault, his second gun-related charge in six months.

Russell is accused of shooting a teenager during a fight Wednesday morning in the 4500 block of Michigan Avenue. He was out of jail on bond at the time of the shooting, because he had been arrested and jailed in September on a charge of armed robbery in Gulfport.

Police rearrested him midday Thursday in an apartment in the 3100 block of Eighth Avenue. He was taken to the Harrison County jail, where he was awaiting a bond revocation hearing Thursday.

Witnesses said Russell approached the teen early Wednesday, they fought and Russell fired a single shot, hitting the teen.

The teen was taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, where he was listed in stable condition on Wednesday. Police were called to Memorial at 8:30 a.m., when the hospital reported treating a gunshot wound.

After hearing evidence in the case, a Justice Court judge issued a warrant on a charge of aggravated assault on Wednesday, leading to his arrest on Thursday.
