GULFPORT Officials with the Sand Beach Authority this morning found a 63-year-old man dead in a chair on the beach near Lewis Avenue, authorities have confirmed.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said the body was discovered near Lewis Avenue at 7:41 a.m.. He said the death doesn’t appear to be the result of foul play. An autopsy is currently underway to determine the cause of death.
“He doesn’t have any injuries,” Hargrove said. “I don’t suspect suicide.”
The man, identified as a Georgia resident, was last seen Wednesday around 2 p.m. walking along the beach with his chair. Hargrove said he wasn’t releasing the man’s name pending notification of next of kin.
