Diamondhead residents protesting the incorporation of their area into a city will hold an informational and fund-raising session Sunday afternoon.
The meeting of Concerned Citizens of Diamondhead will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at 898 Hapuna Place. Members of the group recently filed an appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court to fight a lower court ruling that Diamondhead become incorporated.
The group said many citizens who signed a petition favoring incorporation believed a city government would replace the Property Owners Association in Diamondhead. “That was absolutely false,” and residents will still pay property association dues in addition to city taxes after incorporation, the group said in a notice of its Sunday meeting.
More information on the meeting is available by calling 255-8491.
