BILOXI — Acclaimed chef Cat Cora chats with guest Jessica Chevalier at the ‘One Way Out’ charity event and VIP cocktail reception on Friday at Beau Rivage in Biloxi.

Cora teamed up with winemaker Rob Mondavi for the event that featured a cooking demonstration and a special five-course meal with wine pairings.

The money raised will go to the Gulfport Police Athletic League and Chefs for Humanity.

More than 300 ‘foodies’ attended the event. ‘Cat was here during Katrina and is a good person who always is willing to help us,’ said Merlissia Lewis of the PAL. ‘We will use all of the proceeds to build a new center at Gaston Point.’

Originally from Jackson, Cora has continued to make a lasting impression on the culinary community, both on and off screen.

She made television history on Food Network’s ‘Iron Chef America’ as the first and only female Iron Chef.

Outside of the kitchen, Cora is known for her philanthropy. She is president and founder of Chefs for Humanity, an organization founded in response to the 2004 tsunami disaster.
